What Does a Heart Specialist Do?

  • Cardiologists are physicians with advanced medical training and expertise in diagnosing and treating conditions of the heart and vascular system. Once established as cardiology specialists, cardiologists may continue to refine their expertise in a range of medical subspecialties.
  • The UF Cardiovascular Medicine team includes physicians with with subspecialty expertise in electrophysiology/arrhythmias, non-invasive imaging/echocardiography, heart failure/cardiac transplantation, interventional cardiology, nuclear cardiology, and sports and exercise cardiology. They work closely with UF cardiovascular and thoracic surgeons to provide patients with medical and surgical treatment options that are among the most sophisticated.
