About Nelson I Barrera Figueroa
Dr. Nelson Barrera is originally from Panama City, Panama. He earned his medical degree from the Latin University of Panama. He completed his internal medicine residency at SBH Health System in the Bronx, New York, where he served as chief medical resident. He subsequently completed a fellowship in cardiac amyloidosis and heart failure at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in New York, where he also served as an instructor of medicine. His research and clinical interests focus on geriatric cardiology and heart failure. In his leisure time, Dr. Barrera enjoys playing drums, fishing, hiking, and cooking.
