About Nelson I Barrera Figueroa
I am a cardiology fellow and a board-certified internist. Originally from Panama City, Panama, I earned my medical degree at the Latin University of Panama. I completed my internal medicine residency at SBH Health System in the Bronx, New York, where I served as chief medical resident. I subsequently completed a fellowship in cardiac amyloidosis and heart failure at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in New York, where I also served as an instructor of medicine in the cardiology and heart failure division. My research and clinical interests focus on geriatric cardiology and heart failure. Outside of medicine, I enjoy playing drums, fishing, hiking, and cooking.
